Make it stand out.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Hi, I’m Coach Heather!
Growing up as a competitive, artistic roller-skater I was always very active. I began skating as a toddler and developed as an athlete throughout the years. At 12 years old I made my first visit to the Olympic Training Center, competing internationally. Once I graduated from high school I ended my skating career to begin working and going to school.
In 2008, after I had my fifth baby, I found myself with an unhealthy weight gain , stressed and tired joints. I weighed in at 220 pounds at only 5 foot 2 inches. It took a full year of focused, concentrated effort to lose 100 pounds. Within that 12 months I found my passion for all things health & fitness.

Hello! I'm 26 and I live in Gales Ferry with my girlfriend Grace. I graduated with my bachelor's from Mitchell college in sports management along with my MBA from SNHU in athletic administration. I've worked for the Connecticut Sun for the past four years along with coaching girls basketball at Ledyard high school. For the past three years, I've been training and competing in powerlifting which is the focal point of my fitness journey. I'm looking to take everything I've learned and use it towards helping clients at Fit Academy through any aspect of fitness.

Kay
Kay started practicing yoga in 2016 in her university gym as a form of exercise. Having been an avid athlete, she was looking for that same sense of community in yoga. She was introduced to amazing students and a teacher who inspired her to develop a home practice. After she graduated college in 2019, Kay was interested in deepening her practice and learning more about the spiritual and historical part of yoga. She completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Yoga Works LA and was granted her diploma on March 7, 2021. In her classes she focuses on mindful movement and believes wherever you are in your practice, yoga is a perfect way to tune into your body and show yourself some love. She believes yoga is a journey not a destination and encourages people to try yoga so they can feel good, take care and learn more about themselves and others. Kay lives in Uncasville, CT with her partner, Theo and their German Shepherd Dog, Layla.

Alyssa Samson
Hello! I am 24 years old and I live in Gales Ferry, CT with my fiancée Nick. I have played soccer my whole life, through college! I went to the University of Bridgeport and completed my bachelors in health science. I am currently a medical assistant for a primary care office. I love to work with people! I started my personal training/group training after retiring from soccer. I did not know my love for working out until I was finished with my favorite sport! I want to be able to help people achieve their goals and fit academy is the right place to do it!

Hi! I am beyond excited to welcome you all to Fit Academy. I am 24 years old and originally from New Hampshire where I grew up as a competitive dancer and was always working out. I danced professionally throughout college with a contemporary dance company in Hartford, CT. After college I had the opportunity to move to Oahu, Hawaii. I lived there for two years it was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! I moved to Uncasville, CT January of 2021 with my Husband Bobby, where we bought our first house and got our Golden Retriever puppy Callie! Emily
Originally from Southeastern CT, Emily has been practicing yoga for about 20 years. She recently moved back home to Niantic, where the energy of the sea called her back after many years of living in the mid-Atlantic with her family. During that time, of practicing yoga, and experiencing glimpses of the healing powers of the ancient traditions of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, Emily began studying Prana Flow® yoga, a style of vinyasa flow developed by Shiva Rea, with Maria Garre in 2010. She enjoys practicing all styles of yoga, but is especially inspired by the way Prana Flow® yoga brings peace to the body and mind through movement meditation. It is her goal to help each and every student find a practice that is accessible, balanced and healing.
